So, don't forget to warm up your voice, even if you're "just" going to rehearsal, and practice smart. And that will be part 2 of this blog. But for now, i gotta go warm up...

SINGER TIP #39
I know, this one should be a given, but how many times do I forget to take the time to warm up before REHEARSAL? It's so important for many reasons--vocal health being one of them. We, many times, rehearse longer than we perform. On average, I rehearse for at least 2 hrs., but the actual gig might only last 1 hr. So even though I try to take it easy when I rehearse, i still need to be warmed up. Another reason is performance. "You play like you practice" they say in sports circles...well, it's the same thing for singers. You gotta be in good shape vocally when you rehearse so that you can build some muscle memory, and when it comes time to sing in front of people, you got all your "moves" ready to go cos you've already practiced them. You gotta know what you can and can't do so that you're not just making up stuff or hoping it "comes out" once you're on stage.
